In the early afternoon of Sunday 6th December, the Sestiere Marina Ventimiglia will be in the Piazza Marina San Giuseppe Marconi to celebrate Christmas and thus close a good year, both for the successful Agosto Medievale (Medieval August) and for the success of initiatives such as Mother’s Day and especially the Festino alla Marina (Navy Feast).
The day of celebration will focus on the decoration of the 4.5metres high Christmas tree that the Sestiere has decided to give to the neighbourhood to enhance the Christmas atmosphere in this marine district. The Sestiere invites all supporters to join him and the local children to decorate the tree together, perhaps bringing their own decorations, and drink hot chocolate with cake or, for the older ones, a glass of mulled wine. At dusk the lights will be lit, officially kicking off the Christmas season.
The Sestiere Marina thanked the town council and the workers of the Technical Office for their helpfulness and courtesy. On Sunday morning the usual homage to Santa Barbara will be celebrated by Italian Sailors at the war memorial situated at the mouth of the river Roya.
